C r a f t B r e a k : P r o j e c t P l a n n i n g

In the near future, (Only one more full week of the semester! - its going to be a tough one though) I will hopefully be having a little more free time to work on some craft and design projects.  Once classes end, and I get a chance to take a deep breath, I plan on happily tackling my list this summer.  I will, of course, have to take a break for some friend and family time, a Germany trip and my job.

I really do have so many projects I would like to get done! This is one of the dangerous side-effects of having a Pinterest account.

I put together this little notebook with some paper I tore out of an old magazine, some notebook paper and washi tape (Sooo excited to have found the exact pattern of washi tape I was looking for in a store instead of having to order it. After using it once, I'm already a big fan). I filed the pages with ideas for gifts and other projects I'd like to get done (inspired by this post). I think I'll add making a few more notebooks to my list of projects!

C r a f t B r e a k : H a n d m a d e I n v i t a t i o n s

Made these invitations for my Oma's 80th Birthday celebration. I made 20 invitations to send to her so she can give them out to family and friends. I'm so excited to actually be able to attend the festivities in Germany!
I used to make handmade cards all the time (I even handmade all of my High School graduation party invitations.), but I've kind of gotten away from paper crafts lately. This was a fun project though!

C r a f t B r e a k : C a n v a s A r t

Recently, I have been making a few updates to my apartment decor (I bought myself a grownup couch! --byeee futon). I wanted to make some new wall art and I was originally going to do a chevron design, but then I realized taping out an even chevron pattern was going to be more frustrating than it was worth. I was then inspired by this post. So here is my version.

I used painters tape cut down to a little less than half inch strips to mark my lines on canvas that I primed with white acrylic paint. Make sure to rub over the edges of the tape to ensure a good seal. I then used gold and dark gray acrylic paint to fill in the segments in an abstract pattern.  Heads up - cheap acrylic gold paint takes FOREVER to cover, I think I have about 6 or 7 coats on here but the end result is quite nice! After the paint has been applied peel off the tape (carefully) to reveal the finished product!

O M G these Chocolate Pots de Creme are sinful and oh - so - good. The first time I ever had one of these was at Harry and Izzy's and I have been wanting to recreate them since then. Success! Easy to make just follow this recipe.  I must make these again - I see a wine and chocolate night with the girls in the near future.

L i t t l e G i r l T u r n s 2 !

Before I begin on my rant about how much I love this furry little thing, let me reinforce that I am most definitely a "cat lady" and despite the jokes I am just going to accept that title.

So, today my little girl turns 2,
and while she has packed on the pounds, trips, slips, falls, and slams into things more than any other cat I have ever seen, gives me a bloody ankle or foot every now and then and always makes a big stinker when I have company.... I love her like crazy and she loves her mama (that being said, most of the time I think I'm seen as a giant toy who also has the power to produce food). She is a rather fearless, bold, friendly and curious little thing. I am amazed that she seems to have no concept of what the word "no" means but she knows exactly what "breakfast" means. She will trample over absolutely anything to get to a shadow or reflection of light on the wall, has a lot of 'blank' moments, loves to explore basements and cleanup cobwebs, prefers bread and crackers over fish and deli meat, enjoys sleeping on her back with all paws in the air, loves a good belly rub and seems to have no understanding of what her tail is for.  She is most definitely an excellent roommate and I can't imagine not having her around!
